The Responder Relief Fund extends its profound gratitude for your service as a first responder. To ensure the equitable and judicious distribution of financial resources to those in genuine need, the following eligibility criteria and documentation requirements have been established.
All applications will be assessed in strict confidence and in accordance with our fiduciary responsibilities.
I. Eligibility Criteria
Who Qualifies for Aid
1. Professional Status Verification
- Municipal, state, or federal fire service personnel
- Sworn law enforcement officers
- Licensed emergency medical technicians (EMTs) or paramedics
- Active disaster response personnel (e.g., FEMA, Red Cross deployed staff)
2. Financial Hardship Demonstration
- Disaster-related property loss or damage
- Temporary or permanent service-related disability
- Loss of primary residence due to catastrophic events
- Medical emergencies resulting in uninsured expenses
- Essential living expenses jeopardized due to emergency deployment
Temporal Parameters: Incidents giving rise to financial need must have occurred within six (6) months of application submission. Applicants may not receive duplicate funding for the same incident from multiple sources.
II. Required Documentation

- Official service verification letter on agency letterhead
- Recent pay stub showing agency affiliation
Secondary Verification (provide one)
- Professional license or certification (e.g., EMT license, firefighter certification)
- Deployment orders for disaster response personnel
- Union membership documentation
Financial Hardship Documentation
- Insurance claim denial letter or FEMA application documentation
- Repair estimates from licensed contractors or photographic evidence of damages
- Itemized medical bills or Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements
- Eviction or foreclosure notices, utility shut-off warnings
- Recent bank statements (redacted for account numbers)
Additional Requirements
- Completed W-9 form for tax reporting purposes
- Signed authorization for verification of submitted documents
- Personal statement detailing circumstances (500 words maximum)
